Creative Problem Solving Workshop
The Institute of Engineering Technology IET, KFUPM-Young Member Section held a seminar on 20th January 2009 titled “Creative Problem Solving – Techniques to unlocking mental habits” by Dr. Roland Yeo. Dr. Yeo is an Assistant Professor at the College of Industrial Management. He is an accredited trainer of Creative Problem Solving techniques by the Center of Creative Learning, Inc. in Florida, USA.
The event was held in the university campus in building 14. More than 150 students and faculty attended the seminar and were later awarded certificates of participation on request. Dr. Roland Yeo put up an interesting presentation which was much appreciated by the attendees. There were interesting exercises given to the students during the seminar which required logical thinking. Some of the questions which looked difficult had the easiest of answers. The presentation mainly focused on advising people on how to find their potential blind spots due to which a person misses out on the most obvious of things. The presentation also taught on how to increase the ability to think out of the box. It also helped the students to maximize their thinking patterns to generate ideas through divergent thinking techniques and evaluate ideas through convergent thinking techniques.
Dr. Yeo was congratulated by the students after his presentation and was awarded a certificate as a memento on behalf of all the members of IET KFUPM. The evening was very enjoyable to one and all who had participated. Laughs and applauses were filled in the room during the whole seminar. A lot of students took interest in the topic and are looking forward to a similar event soon.
