Seminar Synopsis

The impact of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology as a ubiquitous component in the information age is expanding with new and innovative applications in retail, government, manufacturing and healthcare. The last two years have witnessed an explosion of interest in radio-frequency identification and mobile technologies. Radio frequency identification systems have many applications in manufacturing, supply chain and healthcare. In an RFID system, products and objects are given RFID tags to identify themselves. Lately  Contactless  smart  cards  are  used  extensively  for  secure  access  to  government  &  corporate  buildings   in  addition  to  using  them  along  with  the  mobile  in  payment. The  speaker  will  throw  light  on  RFID  technology  and   highlight  some  of  the  most  important  applications  utilizing  RFID. Moreover, a DEMO on NFC Access Control will be presented.

Who is the Speaker?

Mr. Peters is visiting the Computer Engineering Department (KFUPM) to deliver several short courses and lectures. He is currently a Project Manager at the EasyLogic RFID/NFC Distribution in Netherlands.  He has held several strategic positions and roles in the industry, including being the Business Developer at ELMO ICT Groep, Account Manager at MobiSec (Sweden), Sales Manager at Greenway Telematics, Account Manager at Hillsafety, etc.
