IET Treasure Hunt (I)
The IET – Young Members Section organized a successful event called the “The Treasure Hunt” on the 13th of March 2008. This was the first of a kind event organized by a student organization at KFUPM. The objective of this event was to test the student knowledge about their campus life. The competition started at 9:30 am at the convocation ground in front of building 19. Forty five KFUPM students from various disciple took part in the competition in the form of 15 groups.
In the game, every group was given a set of questions, answer to which let them to a specific location of different academic buildings to find the next question and so on.
The groups had to solve eight mysterious questions before completion of the game and required to bring back all the clues at the finishing point. The entire competition was based on point system, where points were deducted from team score if they asked for hints/help from supervising IET officials. Six prizes were given to the two team members, that returned to the finish line with maximum score.
The 1st winning team were awarded with 160 GB hard disk each and the 2nd winning team were given flash drives of 4 GB each. Refreshments were also served during and after the game to all the participants.
The IET members who designed the complete game were:
1. Aasim
2. Abdurrehman Habis
3. Ahmed Qutbudden
4. Akram
5. Amjad
6. Imran
7. Khalid
8. Saadeddin
9. Shaeq
10. Sulaiman
The event proved to be a very successful one and gave motivation to IET-KFUPM members to organize more events later on. The members who designed the complete game worked day and night to make it entertaining and adventurous for all the players. We received words of encouragement and appreciation from all the participants. IET-KFUPM is expected to organize such events in the near future and will try to implement more new ideas. The IET has become a foundation for student like us to develop a sense of innovation.

Feedback Report
In a feedback carried out soon after the event, we received an overwhelming positive response and valuable suggestions from the participants.
The first question was about the time of the day that this game should take place? 68% of the students thought that morning was an appropriate time for the game followed by 24% for evening and 8% for night.
The second question asked to choose the length of the game. 88% participants thought that three to four hours was an appropriate length for the game followed by 12% who said that 5 to 8 hours would be good.
The third question asked them about the prizes they would prefer. 56% said that they would like to see cash prize next time and 32% said that they wanted a bigger prize like a laptop or ipod. One specific request we got from the winners was that they wanted free parking space near their academic building (We do understand but that’s asking too much).
The fourth question asked about how many members should there be in a group. 80% thought that three to four people in one group is good enough whereas the rest wanted the members for a team to be increased to five to eight.
The fifth question asked about the level of difficulty of the questions. 64% wanted the level to be the same. 24% said that the questions could be more difficult and the rest said that the questions should be easier.
Some of the extra comments we got was to carry out this competition every semester, give something like a T-shirt or participation certificates so that they can remember that they were part of this event. Some others suggested that the media team could have been more efficient in promoting the event amongst the students. Also they thought that the game could be expanded to other areas of the academic buildings.
