IET Connect – the IET Benevolent Fund, is a separate registered charity which provides help and advice to members of the IET and their families.
Reduced membership subscription fees
Reduced subscriptions are available to members in certain circumstances who would usually be paying the IET standard rate.

The IET has teamed up with Citnexus, a specialist software reseller, to offer discounts on key software packages for IET members.
Countersign passport applications
Once a member with the IET and professionally registered with the Engineering Council, you can countersign UK passport applications.
Licensed access to barristers
The IET is an authorised licensed access client with the Bar Council. Although not specified, it is expected that members wishing to take advantage of this scheme must also be on the Engineering Council professional register.

The trust you derive from being seen as a professional engineer is one of the many advantages of being a member of the IET, but it also means you have certain ethical responsibilities. The IET can help you to understand the demands of professional ethical standards in your own life with dedicated guidance, case studies and resources.
Member facilities and venues
As a member, you have access to the facilities at Savoy Place, our London venue. You can visit the IET Library, relax in the members’ lounge or use the computer suite and refreshments are available throughout the day. You can also hire our prestigious conference facilities at:

- Austin Court (Birmingham);
- Teacher Building (Glasgow).
Diplomas
Members of the IET who are entitled to use designatory letters can apply for a diploma. This certifies their status of membership and their Engineering Council professional registration (if applicable).
My IET
My IET is a customised web portal where you can manage your own membership from paying your subscription fees online, to ensuring your contact details and preferences are up to date. By registering with My IET, you can also access exclusive web content.
IET Diary
The IET pocket diary is exclusive to all members and contains a wealth of information on the IET, our high quality products and services and useful contacts.
IET email alias
The IET offers all members a personal email alias service in which you can register or instantly update your own unique, personalised email address. The email alias ending in @theiet.org, provides a professional email address for your business contacts.
